Fernando Eimbcke
Over the last decade, Fernando Eimbcke has established himself as one of Latin America's most influential directors. A graduate of UNAM, he made his film debut with Duck Season (2004), selected for Cannes in 2004 and widely awarded. Then came Lake Tahoe (2008), presented at Berlin 2008, winner of the Silver Bear Jury Grand Prix, among others. Club Sandwich (2013) followed, winning the Silver Shell for Best Director at San Sebastián. Finally, after Olmo (2025), Eimbcke recently presented Moscas (2026) at Berlin, selected to represent Mexico at the 2027 Goya Awards. Throughout his filmography, Eimbcke offers an intimate look at the lives of young characters evolving in the malleable and transformative world of adolescence. His work is characterized by a very fine, calm, observant, and deeply human comic sensibility, in tune with the idiosyncrasies and small wonders of childhood innocence.
