About

How can you project your voice without electricity or technology? In this workshop with Les Inventeurs, you will make a cardboard megaphone and experiment with the simple principles of sound propagation.

By assembling their object, children will discover how shape influences the diffusion of sound waves and allows for voice amplification. Once tested, the megaphone becomes a tool for play, self-expression, calling out… and occupying space in a new way.

A fun and accessible activity, combining science and expression, to explore the power of the voice in public spaces.

A four-handed workshop to share between you and the child
you are accompanying. Everyone participating in the workshop must book a spot (children and chaperones).

Our take on this event

Channel your inner scientist by building a cardboard megaphone from scratch with your favorite junior sidekick. This hands-on workshop dives into the fascinating world of sound waves without needing a single battery or cord. Grab a spot and learn how to project your voice while picking up some cool acoustic tricks along the way.

Discover the mechanics of sound at the Mégaphone ! workshop, hosted by Les Inventeurs at the MAIF Social Club. Designed for children aged 8 and up accompanied by an adult, this session focuses on constructing a cardboard megaphone to explore how simple shapes can amplify the human voice without any technology. It is a creative, hands-on experience that blends scientific discovery with public expression. The activity is completely free of charge. Please note that booking is mandatory for every single person attending, whether child or adult, to secure your spot for this collaborative crafting session.

From November 21, 2026, to July 10, 2027, the MAIF Social Club in Paris' 3rd arrondissement hosts the Mégaphone ! workshop. Led by Les Inventeurs, this event invites children and their accompanying adults to build their own cardboard megaphone. This workshop demonstrates how physical form influences sound wave propagation, providing a practical lesson in acoustics without the need for electricity or digital tools.

Participants will spend time assembling their objects before testing their new acoustic devices. This process serves as an introduction to the power of the voice in public spaces, turning simple cardboard into a functional tool for sound experimentation. It is a collaborative experience where scientific inquiry meets creative play, encouraging children to explore how they can project their voices effectively.

The workshop is suitable for participants aged 8 and older. As this is a hands-on activity, children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the session. While the workshop is free, booking is required for both the child and the accompanying adult to ensure participation.
