About
A day to discover, share… and take action for research
On October 10, 2026, the Institut Pasteur will exceptionally open the doors of its Paris campus for the Pasteurdon. A unique day dedicated to discovery, sharing… and generosity.
At the Institut Pasteur, researchers are tackling the major health challenges of our time: emerging viruses, resistant bacteria, and cancers affecting more and more young people… On October 10 and 11, discover from the inside how biomedical research takes concrete action for our health—and why supporting science means investing in everyone's future.

What if the greatest health challenges (cancer, infections, brain diseases) could be better understood so they can be better fought? That is the role of research: finding new ways to prevent and treat these diseases. Cancer affects nearly 1 in 5 people during their lifetime and remains one of the leading causes of death in many countries. While major progress has been made in recent years, some forms remain difficult to treat, such as pancreatic or lung cancer. Others still pose many questions, particularly regarding their origins, aggressiveness, or the reasons for treatment failure.
Infectious diseases also continue to represent a major threat. While research now offers the hope of long-term HIV remission, new risks emerge regularly, particularly through zoonoses, diseases transmitted from animals to humans. Other threats are also growing, such as antibiotic resistance, which could one day make currently benign infections much more difficult, or even impossible, to treat.
As for brain diseases, they affect millions of people: 1 in 6 children is affected by a neurodevelopmental disorder, while diseases like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's are increasing with the aging population and could see their numbers double by 2050. For 20 years, the Pasteurdon has had a clear objective: to provide research with the means to bring concrete answers to the major health issues that concern us all.
