About

The Cité des sciences et de l'industrie presents an engaging exhibition dedicated to cats and dogs. Designed for visitors aged 6 and up, this event explores modern ethology through interactive and playful displays. You will discover the cognitive abilities and sensitivity of these animals, while examining their historical role within human society. Returning to the 19th arrondissement after a worldwide tour, this updated exhibition offers a fresh experience. Please note that access to the event is ticketed, and visitors must purchase a pass to explore this immersive journey into the world of our favorite pets.

Over the last twenty years, ethology ‒ the science of animal behavior ‒ has made immense progress, overturning many preconceived ideas about the dog, Canis familiaris, and the cat, Felis catus. Their abilities, sensitivity, and intelligence are demonstrated every day. Participatory and fun, the exhibition provides a comprehensive insight into our current canine and feline knowledge. Get inside the skin and head of your favorite pets, before exploring how they have become a part of our societies.

A major exhibition, Dogs and Cats makes a big comeback, significantly enriched, at the Cité after an initial presentation in 2015 and a world tour. Updated content, revised elements, new interactive displays, and scenography: the exhibition has undergone a thorough makeover to offer you a unique visitor experience!

Our take on this event

The Cité des sciences et de l'industrie hosts the 'Chiens et chats' exhibition, a deep dive into the science of animal behavior. Suitable for children aged 6 and over, the tour helps visitors understand Canis familiaris and Felis catus through interactive setups and a redesigned layout. The content, updated based on recent research, challenges common misconceptions regarding the intelligence and emotional capabilities of our pets.

The exhibition runs from October 2, 2026, to March 7, 2027. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00, and on Sundays from 10:00 to 19:00. This educational experience invites the public to step into the shoes of their favorite animals to better understand how they interact with our modern human environments.

When planning your trip to the 19th arrondissement, please remember that this is a paid event. This version of the exhibit has been significantly enhanced with new content and a new design, providing an educational and immersive experience for all visitors.
