About
Since 2021, students from the Master 1 in Anthropology at Paris Nanterre University, supervised by Virginie Milliot, have been conducting urban ethnography internships in the community gardens and green streets of La Goutte d’Or in collaboration with the association La Goutte Verte. What is urban ethnography? What type of knowledge does this method produce? How can it interest field actors?
La Goutte d’Or s’arrache au bitume (La Goutte d’Or tears itself from the asphalt) Community Garden Festival is an unmissable autumn event in La Goutte d’Or, programmed by a collective of associations in partnership with Paris Nanterre University, the Goutte d’Or library, and the Institut des Cultures d'Islam.
It includes conferences, walks through the neighborhood's gardens and green spaces, botanical drawing, harvesting, and cooking workshops, photo and drawing exhibitions, and film screenings.
The organizing collective for this festival includes the neighborhood's five community gardens: Jardins Aziza and Bashung (La Goutte Verte), l'Univert (Halage), Jardin de la Table ouverte (La Table Ouverte), Jardin de l'Assommoir (Art&A), the Goutte d'Or library, urban anthropologist Virginie Milliot (Paris Nanterre University), the Collectif 4C and the association Graine de Jardins, as well as the Institut des Cultures d'Islam, and the children of La Goutte d’Or.
