About

Synopsis:

Michel, Jeannine, Fanfan, Rustem, and Eliane each own a small business in Paris and have a visceral attachment to their neighborhood and its inhabitants, an almost loving relationship with their profession. Hair salons, haberdasheries, restaurants, bookstores: these small businesses, not "profitable" in the strict sense, generate life and serve as spaces for advice and discussion. As privileged observers of the social and architectural transformations of their neighborhoods, they now embody a Paris that is disappearing.
