About

From tits to dragonflies to dogs, from bats to horses to deer, animals inhabit the city with us.

Thinking about the city with animals, thinking about the modalities of their presence, means both taking seriously the issue of collapsing biodiversity and grasping the challenges of cohabitation at work.

How do we share the city with these other living beings that are animals, whose bodies and behaviors differ so much from our own? How do we welcome species that are in decline and whose presence is necessary for a living and livable city?

Léa Mosconi, author of Architecture vivante, architecture des vivants (Éditions 205) is leading a project studio this year with students from ENSA Paris Belleville on the "Parliament of Animals" regarding the consideration of animal space in the city. This meeting-conference will also be an opportunity to present some student models.

Our take on this event

Our urban landscape is shared with creatures we often overlook, from winged neighbors to four-legged city dwellers. Join a thought-provoking conversation on how architecture can embrace biodiversity and create a truly inclusive habitat for every living soul in Paris.

Join the discussion on how animals and humans can coexist in urban environments during the conference Faire la ville avec les vivants at the Bibliothèque François Villon. Taking place on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, this event features architect Léa Mosconi and students from ENSA Paris-Belleville, who will present their research on the Parlement des animaux. Designed for an audience aged 15 and up, this session explores the challenges of biodiversity and urban planning. Attendance is free, and the venue is fully wheelchair accessible. Come discover how we can design cities that are both vibrant and welcoming for all living species.

On October 6, 2026, from 19:00 to 21:00, the Bibliothèque François Villon invites you to a lecture centered on urban coexistence with non-human species. Léa Mosconi, author of Architecture vivante, architecture des vivants, will lead the session alongside students from ENSA Paris-Belleville, presenting findings from their studio project on the Parlement des animaux.

The conference addresses critical questions regarding the survival of declining species and the necessity of creating cities that accommodate diverse animal behaviors and bodies. By examining these challenges, the speakers aim to redefine how urban spaces can be planned for a more sustainable future. Attendees will have the opportunity to view architectural models created by the students, offering a visual representation of their theories and proposals.

This event is open to everyone aged 15 and older. Entry is free for all visitors. The venue is fully accessible to wheelchair users, ensuring a comfortable experience for all participants interested in architecture and ecology.
