About

The fantastic reality

As a director, I have always been fascinated by the idea of working in connection with reality. During my film studies, I made two documentary short films. Years later, I shot a documentary short film about how my mother dealt with my father's illness, and in 2010, I directed a short film where I worked with non-professional actors. But it was only with the feature film Moscas that working with a child forced me to admit that fiction must work closely with reality. The first week of shooting, I wanted the child to adapt to my reality, but it was only when I was forced to adapt to theirs that the film took flight. Certain production patterns in the film industry force us to recreate every aspect of reality, and what we lose is invaluable: spontaneity. One of the great qualities of childhood is spontaneously transforming reality into fantasy. Let's film like children; they are our best teachers.
