About

Drag queens are like wild weeds. You pull them out, they grow back. You trample them, they flourish in the cracks of the sidewalk, between two paving stones, right where no one expects them.

In the exhibition Sowing our resistance, the Paillettes collective feels right at home: surrounded by poetic barbed wire, vegetable wax paving stones, and neon signs that proclaim we rise by lifting others.

With sharp heels and sharp words, they stroll among the works and tell you how to grow joy in a world that would prefer us to behave.

The Les Paillettes collective also offers Glitter Tales for children.

Our take on this event

Forget everything you know about art galleries; this space becomes a radical playground where drag performers turn resistance into pure, unadulterated sparkle. Through sharp wit and soaring energy, the collective invites you to witness how joy can become a form of protest in the heart of the city.

The collective Les Paillettes presents Des paillettes en résistance at the MAIF Social Club in Paris's 3rd arrondissement. This performance series takes place within the Semons nos résistances exhibition, blending sharp wit and striking visuals to explore themes of resilience and joy. Artists navigate the space, challenging expectations with their bold presence in a world that often demands conformity. This event is free of charge and designed exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. It runs from November 28, 2026, until July 3, 2027, offering a unique opportunity to engage with art that grows in the most unexpected places.

Located at the MAIF Social Club, the show Des paillettes en résistance invites you to experience a unique form of artistic protest. The collective Les Paillettes draws inspiration from the idea of weeds that persist and bloom in the cracks of urban life. Surrounded by poetic barbed wire and wax cobblestones, the performers move through the exhibition Semons nos résistances, using their sharp tongues and high heels to tell stories of reclaiming joy in a rigid world.

The performances occur between November 28, 2026, and July 3, 2027. This experience is entirely free to attend, though it is intended for a mature audience of 18 years and older. By navigating among the artworks, the performers create an intimate and thought-provoking atmosphere for those looking for an unconventional cultural outing. Please be aware that the collective also organizes separate sessions called Contes à Paillettes, which are specifically tailored for children, distinct from this adult-oriented showcase.
