About

The dance company AmieAmi, led by Pauline Bigot and Steven Hervouet, joins forces with illustrator Bastien Contraire to present Pop Up, a performance designed for children aged 3 and up. By bringing the mechanics of a pop-up book to life on stage, the artists create a vibrant space where movement meets drawing. This immersive experience explores how dance and visual art can transform a space into a colorful playground. The show takes place on December 3 and 4, 2026, at L’étoile du nord in the 18th arrondissement, with full accessibility features for wheelchair users and visitors with sensory or cognitive disabilities.

Pop Up is a show for young audiences conceived by the dance company AmieAmi (Pauline Bigot and Steven Hervouet) and the author-illustrator Bastien Contraire. Their collaboration stems from a desire to base the performance on the structure of a classic pop-up book and unfold its fundamentals on a life-size scale.

At the intersection of body and image, drawing and movement, the piece is built as a vast space for discovery that gains color and volume, transforming according to the danced explorations.

Our take on this event

Combining the worlds of dance and illustration, Pop Up transforms the concept of a classic pop-up book into a full-scale physical performance. Choreographers Pauline Bigot and Steven Hervouet from the AmieAmi company collaborate with author-illustrator Bastien Contraire to craft a show where images and movement merge. The stage functions as a dynamic landscape, unfolding in volume and color as the dancers explore the space, providing a unique sensory journey for young audiences aged 3 and older.

Shows are held on Thursday, December 3, and Friday, December 4, 2026, with sessions at 10:00 and 14:00 each day. Each performance lasts for 30 minutes. Before or after the show, audience members can enjoy an exhibition by Bastien Contraire located in the theater lobby.

Tickets are priced at 10 euros for adults and 5 euros for children. L’étoile du nord is accessible to wheelchair users, as well as visitors who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or living with cognitive disabilities.
