About
Discover the intersection of dance and circus arts at the RueWATT fabrique artistique in Paris. Led by choreographer Elodie Escarmelle and aerial artist Cecilia Hermosilla, this workshop focuses on the physical relationship with fabric, exploring concepts of gravity, suspension, and elasticity. Designed for adults aged 18 and over, the sessions encourage creative movement between the floor and the air. The workshops take place on two specific dates: November 21 and December 12, 2026. Participation is subject to a fee of 28 euros, offering a unique opportunity to engage with both aerial techniques and contemporary dance practices.
Led by two artists: Elodie Escarmelle (Cie Small Room), choreographer and dancer, and Cecilia Hermosilla (Colectivo Newen), circus artist specialized in aerial silk.
Through an imaginary of relationships with the body, gravity, and the collective, we will intersect disciplines by playing with all the possibilities the fabric offers: elasticity, rebounds, suspension…
Alone or in a group, come explore movement, the body, and its relationship with the fabric, navigating between horizontal space on the ground and vertical space in the air.

Artist Biographies
Elodie Escarmelle is a dancer and choreographer. Trained in London at the Laban Centre and now based in Paris, she works throughout Europe. She founded her company, Small Room, in 2009. Within this framework, she has created 5 pieces, both for the stage and for atypical spaces, presented in France, Ireland, and England. Her shows address contemporary societal issues and explore the junction between the sensitive body and the social body. Within Small Room, she surrounds herself with loyal collaborators and cultivates encounters with local inhabitants and territories.
Cecilia Hermosilla Palma graduated in dance pedagogy from the University of Chile in 1995. From 1991 to 1997, she worked with various independent contemporary dance companies (Cie Siglo XXI, Septima Cie directed by L.E. Araneda, Cie Carmen Beuchat…). In France since 1997, she joined the Cirque Baroque troupe as a dancer and aerial acrobat (smooth rope, silks). Currently, she continues her work with Colectivo Newen, with whom she develops her educational project.
Our take on this event
The RueWATT fabrique artistique, located at 18 rue WATT in the 13th arrondissement, hosts an intensive workshop bridging contemporary dance and aerial fabric arts. Scheduled for November 21 and December 12, 2026, from 14:00 to 16:00, the sessions offer participants the chance to master the nuances of fabric, from rebounds to aerial suspension.
Guided by professional artists Elodie Escarmelle of Cie Small Room and Cecilia Hermosilla of Colectivo Newen, the curriculum emphasizes the study of body mechanics and spatial awareness. The instructors bring extensive backgrounds in both European contemporary dance and traditional circus performance to help students navigate between horizontal floor work and vertical aerial movements.
This experience is open to individuals aged 18 and older. The participation fee is 28 euros per session.
