The Feibai Institute hosts a series of Chinese calligraphy workshops in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. Designed for beginners aged 13 and up, these sessions offer an opportunity to master brush techniques while exploring the philosophy and aesthetics of this ancient art. Guided by calligrapher and researcher HU Jiaxing, you will learn to express your inner strength through the brush. Each two-hour workshop focuses on unique themes, providing a cultural and artistic journey into the art of writing. The price is 50 euros per session, with all necessary materials provided to ensure a seamless experience for every participant.
To calligraph is to write one's authentic stroke.
The concept that “the character resembles the person” (zi ru qi ren 字如其人) or “the man grows old with his writing” (ren shu ju lao 人書俱老) runs through the entire learning process of the calligrapher and has written the history of Chinese calligraphy for millennia.
This workshop explores the virtue of calligraphy: writing with awareness, confidence, and inner strength through the art of the brush.
Designed for beginners fascinated by the art of writing, these introductory workshops introduce the basic techniques of various styles, while opening the door to discovering the fundamental aesthetics of Chinese calligraphy. Each workshop invites us to an artistic, cultural, and philosophical immersion, and a discovery of the self.

HU Jiaxing 胡嘉興, calligraphy artist, teacher-researcher. Co-founder of the Feibai Institute, head of pedagogical programs for Chinese writing, calligraphy, and epigraphy. Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from the National Museum of Natural History, specializing in the anthropology of the art of writing.

Located in the heart of Paris, the Feibai Institute invites you to discover the art of Chinese calligraphy.
