Free concert: Romantic trio, from Haydn to Brahms
A narrated concert for piano, violin and cello, traversing the German 19th century from Haydn to Brahms and rediscovering two forgotten female composers.
Auditorium de l'Hôpital Bretonneau (Paris 18th)
About
A piano, a violin and a cello: as a trio, they traverse the 19th-century German landscape, a century of great emotions and great friendships.
It is also an era when women were told they were not meant to compose. Fanny Mendelssohn, Felix's older sister, had to wait until she was forty to publish under her own name. Emilie Mayer wrote eight symphonies and a dozen trios. She was nicknamed "the female Beethoven," a title that mostly kept her in the shadow of the original.
From Haydn, who invented the piano trio, to Brahms, who brought it to its peak, the Hedy Trio presents all facets of this ensemble: tender, stormy, intimate, or flamboyant. Between pieces, DOm Paulin shares stories about the works and their composers. No musical knowledge is required to enjoy it. The concert lasts one hour.
Featuring the Hedy Trio: DOm Paulin (piano and narration), Nadiia Kramarenko (violin) and Nicolas Boucher (cello).
This is the second installment of the trilogy dedicated to Germany and Austria, part of "Terre de musiques" (Land of Music), the concert series by the Et voilà! association that takes audiences on a journey from country to country.
