Japanese Printmaking Workshop: Discovering Woodblock Printing
This workshop offers an immersion into the world of Japanese printmaking through an ancestral woodblock printing technique that combines precision, rhythm, and the poetry of shapes.
Centre Paris Anim' Point du Jour (Paris 16th)
About
Through the different stages of woodcut printing, participants discover the complete creative process: preparatory drawing, wood carving, inking, and manual printing. Inspired by the aesthetics of Japanese prints, we explore clean shapes, composition, the relationship with negative space, textures, and repetition. Participants design their own matrices and experiment with hand-printing, primarily in monochrome blue.
Each participant leaves with their own prints, resulting from work that is simultaneously technical, sensitive, and creative.
Accessible to beginners and experienced artists alike, this workshop combines the transmission of traditional craftsmanship, Japanese visual culture, and artistic experimentation in an approach that is meditative, demanding, and fun.
