About

Experience the Ma toque d’atelier textile workshop at the Musée Bourdelle, designed for families to explore the artistic significance of headwear. Drawing inspiration from the exhibition L’étoffe de l’artiste, this two-hour session teaches participants how to hand-stitch their own felt or velvet faluche. It is a perfect opportunity for families with members aged 12 and older to engage in traditional craftsmanship. The museum environment is fully wheelchair accessible and specifically adapted for visitors with cognitive disabilities, ensuring a comfortable experience for everyone involved in this creative journey through the history of artist accessories.

Both protection against the cold in workshops and a symbol of their status, the hat is one of the major accessories of the artist. In order to adopt the look of a real artist, participants will hand-sew their own felt or velvet student cap (faluche).

Our take on this event

During these workshops at the Musée Bourdelle, families delve into the history of the hat as both a practical garment and a status symbol. Participants work with felt or velvet to craft their own headwear, mimicking the classic look of a traditional artist while connecting with the themes of the L’étoffe de l’artiste exhibition.

Sessions take place from 10:30 to 12:30 on October 25, November 29, and December 27, 2026. The activity is suitable for those aged 12 and above. Adults are required to purchase a full-price ticket at 10 €, while children require a reduced-price ticket at 8 €. Additionally, an exhibition entry ticket must be purchased for both, with children receiving free access to the exhibition.

Tickets must be booked in advance through the Paris Musées online portal. The venue provides full wheelchair access and has specific accommodations for guests with cognitive disabilities, making it an inclusive space for all participants.
