Confidences, the festival of all intimacies by Libération

Loneliness is a complex experience, oscillating between modern isolation and the freedom to find oneself in the noise of the city. We are hosting an evening that blends insightful discussions with poignant poetry to examine the bonds we form in our fragmented society. Join us to challenge the status quo and reclaim the beauty of genuine connection.

About

One in four French people claims to feel lonely, and 80% of them say they suffer from it. We sometimes hear about an "epidemic of loneliness." Whether it is an objective reality or a personal feeling, loneliness creeps into the cracks of our individualistic societies, driven by the digitization of our lives and changes in our lifestyles. It also thrives in areas of precariousness, inequality, and the desertification of our territories.

This loneliness is most often endured. But it can also be chosen, to satisfy a desire for introspection, a wish for emancipation, a desire to free oneself from social norms... While being alone is sometimes a true quest, this should not make us forget those for whom isolation is a source of suffering, with major consequences for their health. A vulnerability exploited by digital giants, who go so far as to turn it into a lucrative market. Therefore, how can we act to preserve our bonds without infringing on the freedom to choose how to organize our intimate and social lives?

Together, we will attempt to answer this during a special evening, alternating between discussions and poetry readings.

An evening hosted by Florian Bardou, journalist at Libération, with the following guests:

  • Lou Trotignon, comedian currently on tour for her show Mérou
  • Marine Tondelier, National Secretary of The Ecologists party, who initiated the report "Fighting against loneliness, 30 proposals for an ecology of connection!"
  • Paul Klotz, associate expert at the Jean-Jaurès Foundation, author of the note "The capitalism of loneliness. Fighting against the new business model of tech"
  • Jean-Victor Blanc, psychiatrist at Saint-Antoine Hospital | AP-HP and teacher at Sorbonne University, author of Des amours chimiques. Le fléau du chemsex (2026, Seuil)
  • Johanna Cincinatis Abramowicz, independent journalist, author of the essay Elles vécurent heureuses (2024, Stock) and the documentary "Anatomy of a Dispute" in the podcast Le Cœur sur La Table (Binge Audio)
