Sun and Moon: Encounter with Andreas Eriksson
Swedish landscapes come to life through the tactile, layered abstractions of Andreas Eriksson in this intimate exhibit. You are invited to discover the profound dialogue between his monumental canvases and the hauntingly beautiful small-scale works of mystical painter Ivan Aguéli.

About
Andreas Eriksson builds visual structures by means of blocks, layers and brushstrokes, which can be interpreted as so many ways of experiencing the world. Geological strata, minerals, moss, leaves or bark… His paintings are superpositions of materiality, accumulations of energy and time in varied densities and forms. His art is fundamentally linked to one single place: Medelplana, in southwest Sweden, near Lake Vänern.
Faced with the monumental paintings of Andreas Eriksson, about ten small formats are exhibited – selected by Eriksson himself – by Ivan Aguéli, a painter and mystic who disappeared at the beginning of the last century.
Sara Arrhenius, director of the Swedish Institute, will give the floor to Andreas Eriksson on his artistic practice, but also his relationship with the work of Ivan Aguéli and, more generally, those of the artists he has been passionately collecting for decades.
