    During this evening featuring speeches, readings, music, and a roundtable discussion, the Shoah Memorial pays tribute to Hélène Mouchard-Zay, a major figure in the memory of the Shoah, who with intelligence, audacity, and determination, worked tirelessly to transmit this history to the greatest number of people. Her greatest achievement will remain the creation in the early 1990s of the Center for Study and Research on the Internment Camps of the Loiret, the Cercil. Her fight to bring to light the history of the Pithiviers and Beaune-la-Rolande camps, and to honor the memory of the children of the Vel d'Hiv, is intrinsically linked to her unwavering will to do justice to the memory of her father, Jean Zay, murdered by the Milice in June 1944.
