About
The Théâtre Paris-Villette presents Grandeur nature by Magalie Nadaud, a captivating show exploring the shifting perspectives of childhood. Through a blend of puppetry, video, theatre, sound design, and visual arts, the performance depicts a child who reigns over a miniature world, only to feel small again in the presence of adults. This production, which explores themes of scale and self-discovery within natural and domestic settings, runs from October 18 to November 1, 2026. Please note that the event is ticketed and requires prior booking, with specific performance times scheduled throughout the week, ranging from morning sessions to late afternoon slots.
Alone in his room, a child reigns over a miniature universe where everything becomes possible: objects come to life, spaces transform. But when his parents appear, the child suddenly becomes tiny again in the face of a universe that is too big, too high, too heavy. Combining theater, video, puppetry, visual arts, and sound design, the show invites the audience to navigate through plays of scale, natural or domestic spaces where the child seeks his rightful place.
Our take on this event
Grandeur nature invites audiences to witness a world where the proportions of reality are constantly challenged. The story follows a child who, while alone in their room, exerts absolute control over a miniature universe where objects come to life. However, when parents enter the scene, the child is suddenly confronted with an environment that feels overwhelming, heavy, and disproportionately large. Through this narrative, the work examines the struggle to find one's place within a world that constantly shifts scale.
Magalie Nadaud brings this exploration to life by combining diverse artistic mediums including theatre, puppetry, video projections, and intricate soundscapes. The performance takes place at the Théâtre Paris-Villette in the 19th arrondissement, running from October 18 through November 1, 2026.
