A few tables, some chairs and a blackboard; the setting is familiar, but the context is less so: a self-managed high school where students and teachers make all decisions by consensus. This beautiful human and pedagogical experiment is threatened by allegations of sexual harassment brought against a teacher. Between false testimony and a real victim, the collective is torn over how to respond, at the very moment the rectorate threatens not to renew the agreement binding the institution to the Ministry of Education.
As he did with La Crèche: mécanique d’un conflit, presented in 2025 at the CENTQUATRE-PARIS where he is an artist-in-residence, François Hien draws inspiration from a true story while involving the performers in the writing process. The teenagers and adults who participated in workshops held at the CENTQUATRE beforehand infuse the narrative with their reflections and experiences. With this play, questions regarding the circulation and reception of testimony are at stake, as is the way in which two generations confront their political commitment and their utopias.
