Makthaverskan's latest album, *För Allting*, oscillates between spellbinding pop and tormented punk, never settling for a single identity for long. As Pitchfork wrote about the band, this five-piece Swedish outfit, comprised of former classmates, creates "music from the margins," and the pages of *För Allting* reveal a constant and unwavering need to explore. För Allting marks a new beginning: it is the band's first record to feature a producer (Hannes Ferm of HOLY). Delving deeper into an identity that can never be fully grasped, every second of För Allting brings something brand new from the band.
You'll find drum machines, synthesizers, and a shimmering, joyous self-awareness: what they ultimately create is dream pop for realists. Makthaverskan is not afraid to confront the contradictions between beauty and rage; on the contrary, they turn them into something entirely new. You are free to explore this uncharted territory of Makthaverskan, to try and understand in your own way a band that seems bigger than itself, but it is the mystery, that reluctance to ever fully reveal all its secrets, that makes the band so inherently special. Opening the album with an untitled track featuring a bubbling synth drone, Makthaverskan quickly plunges you into its magic through the scale, dreaminess, and Johnny Marr-esque guitar playing found on "This Time."
