You don’t know me, Ana Maria Haddad Zavadinack
"You don’t know me" is an autofictional show performed by an actress and a musician. The two artists confront, with humor, a reflection on what is translatable and untranslatable, while looking back at their integration process in France.
Théâtre 13 - Glacière (Paris 13th)
About
On stage, Ana Maria and ZêThó, both Brazilian, try to translate a song dear to them for the audience, but the task proves more complex than expected: leading to sometimes comic, sometimes pathetic failures, this attempt at translation gradually becomes an exploration of the difficulties of translating oneself. The stage then becomes a space where translation clumsiness reveals unthought-of ideas, exotic fantasies, resistance, but also the possibilities of inventing a common language capable of overcoming linguistic and symbolic boundaries. Subtly, they wonder: is it possible to translate without betraying? Is it possible to integrate without being acculturated?

Our take on this event
Two Brazilian artists step onto the stage to attempt an impossible translation, turning a simple song into a profound and often comedic exploration of what it means to belong. Far from a dry lecture on cultural displacement, this piece dances through the gaps between languages to find where true connection actually hides. If you have ever wondered if you can ever truly translate your own soul, this performance is exactly for you.
The Théâtre 13 - Glacière presents You don’t know me, a play written and directed by Ana Maria Haddad Zavadinack, running from January 13 to January 23, 2027. Joined on stage by ZêThó, the duo attempts to translate a meaningful song for the audience, revealing the complex layers of cross-cultural communication. This performance, suitable for ages 12 and up, uses humor and vulnerability to examine the challenges of self-translation, exile, and the search for a common language. Shows are scheduled at 20:00 on weekdays and at 18:00 on Saturdays.
At the Théâtre 13 - Glacière, performers Ana Maria Haddad Zavadinack and ZêThó navigate the delicate process of translating a personal song into a shared experience. As they encounter both comedic and profound failures, the stage becomes a space to interrogate the barriers of language and the phantom of cultural exoticism. The piece poignantly asks whether it is possible to integrate into a new environment without losing one's original cultural identity or betraying one's true self.
