About

By touching the object, they awaken sounds from the past and episodes, fragments of the lives of great figures in the fight for civil rights in the United States.

Through the game of interactivity, a moment unfolds between play, dance, song, the memories of an era, a journey of struggle, and its current resonances.

You are invited into a moment of living memory, to discover soundscapes evocative of different moments in history, the words and speeches, gestures and acts of the activist Rosa Parks and her contemporaries.

This performance, open to all audiences, is presented as part of the Parisian Week Against Discrimination and on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Rosa Parks Social and Cultural Center.

*The performance is acted, sung, and danced and is based on excerpts from the play Rosa 08'46

*The project Rosa 08'46 benefits from the support of Artcena - National Creation Aid, Studio reception, short residencies at the National Dance Center, residency hosting at the CPAnim' Pina Bausch and Bessie Smith, and support from the Paris City Hall. Since the famous actions of Rosa Parks in the 50s, it has explored, up to the murder of George Floyd in 2020, several aspects of the memories of anti-racism.
