About

La Villette hosts The Belt by Ambiguous Dance Company from March 31 to April 3, 2027. Founded by Boram Kim, the company delivers a genre-defying performance blending hip-hop, classical ballet, and contemporary dance within a cyberpunk-inspired aesthetic. Suitable for ages 10 and up, this one-hour show examines themes of progress and heritage through intense physical movement and driving techno rhythms. Located in the 19th arrondissement, this production offers a deep dive into the dynamism of the current Korean dance scene, with ticket prices ranging from 17 to 35 euros.

Founded by Boram Kim, the Ambiguous Dance Company has established itself on the international scene with an unclassifiable style, fusing hip-hop, classical ballet, and contemporary dance with surgical precision. With The Belt, the company presents a two-part work that questions our relationship with transmission and progress. The title itself evokes the continuous movement of a "conveyor belt," a symbol of kinetic energy linking the past to the future in an uninterrupted flow.

This hit, which caused a sensation in London, invites spectators to symbolically slip into thematic "rooms" where the dancers bring the memory of the walls back to life. One encounters an iconoclastic reinterpretation of Ravel's Bolero alongside a hypnotic performance illustrating the company's philosophy: "all humans must communicate through dance."

The Belt is a high-flying choreographic piece. In a futuristic aesthetic with cyberpunk accents, the group comes together to embody a vision of modernity where extreme physicality defies the limits of endurance. Between nods to dance history and pulsating techno rhythms, The Belt celebrates the vitality of the current Korean scene.
