About
El Mawsili
Arab-Andalusian music
Both a school and a musical ensemble, El Mawsili, founded in Saint-Denis thirty-five years ago, disseminates and transmits the art and spirit of scholarly Arab music. A subtle and sparkling repertoire, divided into 24 noubas linked to the hours of the day or night, in which voices, ouds, qanoun, violins, derbouka and tar percussion shine. Grandiose harmonies and XXL enchantment.
Chakâm in duo
Persian-baroque radif
From a trio to a duo, the Chakâm ensemble, winner of the 2023 Prix des Musiques d’ICI, perpetuates a poetic and virtuoso sharing of precious strings. The Persian-descended târ lute of Iranian Sogol Mirzaei jousts with the baroque viola da gamba of Frenchwoman Marie Suzanne De Loye. A journey through space and time affirming the sign of timeless beauty.
