Le Baiser Salé (Paris 1st)
About
On Friday, April 2, 2027, Le Baiser Salé hosts the Magic Malik Quartet XP for two captivating live performances. Flutist Magic Malik joins forces with Maïlys Maronn on piano, Jean-Luc Lehr on bass, and Vincent Sauve on drums to explore a style of jazz that constantly reinvents itself. Through shifting grooves and surprising harmonies, the quartet creates a spontaneous musical dialogue in the heart of Paris' 1st arrondissement. Guests can choose between two sessions, from 19:00 to 20:30 or 21:00 to 22:30, with tickets available for 28 EUR online or 33 EUR at the door.
With the Quartet XP – XP for Experience, of course – Magic Malik continues to move forward on free terrain, where jazz is reinvented at every moment. A flutist with a unique perspective, curious about everything, he handles sounds the way one plays with light: by moving shadows and bringing out unexpected colors. His flute speaks, breathes, and has fun, carried by that highly recognizable energy that runs through all his music.
By his side are three musicians who are as inventive as they are attentive: Maïlys Maronn on piano, whom we have also heard in the Kafrobeat adventure; Jean-Luc Lehr on bass, fueled by traditions from India, Africa, and Eastern Europe; and Vincent Sauve on drums, somewhere between intuitive jazz and aleatoric music. Together, they turn the stage into a space for collective play where shifting grooves, surprising harmonies, and fleeting melodies follow one another without anything ever being set in stone.
After an incandescent live album recorded at Le Baiser Salé, acclaimed for its freshness and spontaneity, the Quartet XP continues its journey: live, demanding, and generous music all at once, to be followed with eyes closed and heart wide open.
