About

This formula combines:
• a limited-duration storytelling workshop (3 hours)
• a storytelling performance by the same storyteller-trainer

It acts as a hive (a place to meet and reconnect), an adventure (trying your hand at storytelling), a journey (a storyteller leads you into her specific universe), and a perspective (getting a "taste" of a storyteller's teaching without committing to a full course).

3:30 PM, Mythology in Kathakali

The workshop offers an exploration of myths and creation stories through the basic elements of Kathakali: mudras (gestural language), abhinaya (facial expressions), and a few dance steps.

It invites participants to get moving themselves.

8:30 PM, The Birth of the World

"BRAHMA! WAKE UP! IT IS TIME FOR CREATION!!!"

Woken up by the almighty god Vishnu, the god Brahma, the creator, finally gets to work... He creates the sky, the earth... and the Dawn... "My god, what a beauty!!!!"

The gods speak in Indian English with rolled "r"s and the storyteller sets the tone...

Sometimes little god Vishnu sucking the tip of his toe, lost in the middle of the ocean, the Dawn in the form of a mare fleeing the embrace of the creator god Brahma, or the god Indra who, on his celestial chariot, flies over the earth flirting with everyone...

Nathalie Le Boucher recounts the antics and mishaps of the gods and demons and draws us into the colorful universe of Indian mythology.

Nathalie Leboucher is a storyteller and educator. She develops work that combines live performance, transmission, and exploration of great traditional narratives. Her approach is particularly interested in the power of stories to create images, open up the imagination, and bring people together. With The Birth of the World, she returns to one of the primary functions of storytelling: telling stories to give meaning to the world around us.
