"DIE & RETRY" at Magasins Généraux
Forget traditional galleries and step into an immersive laboratory where the script is written by your very own decisions. This ever-evolving performance mimics a video game loop, using live AI to reshape the narrative every single time you hit retry. Whether you prefer to just watch the chaos unfold or dive deep into the simulation, this is your chance to experiment with the future of storytelling.
Les Magasins Généraux
About
DIE & RETRY lands at the Magasins Généraux in Pantin from October 8 to November 8, 2026, offering a unique immersion into critical simulation. Created by the collective Angels Front, this project functions like a video game where scenes are played, modified, and repeated based on public interaction and live artificial intelligence inputs. Visitors can choose between free visits or active simulation slots to shape the performance narrative. This event is free of charge and fully accessible to individuals with motor, visual, hearing, or cognitive disabilities. Admission is strictly for visitors aged 18 and over.
Founded by Flora Bouteille and Victor Villafagne in 2023, Angels Front designs immersive and participatory performances conceived as "critical simulations" allowing for collective experimentation and anticipation.
Like in a video game where you replay a scene after losing, "DIE & RETRY" is built through repetition: each sequence is performed, modified, and then replayed. It evolves according to the audience's choices, the performers' improvisations, and content created live by artificial intelligences.
It is up to you to choose how you participate: through a free visit or as part of a simulation to actively participate, or simply by observing the performance to influence the scenario.
Our take on this event
Hosted at the Magasins Généraux, DIE & RETRY is an immersive performance project founded by Flora Bouteille and Victor Villafagne. The work utilizes a repetitive structure where every sequence evolves through performer improvisation and real-time generative AI content. Participants determine the direction of the narrative, whether they choose to engage actively or simply observe the simulation process.
The project kicks off with an opening night on Wednesday, October 7, from 18:00 to 22:00. Regular access is available from Wednesday to Friday, 16:00 to 21:00, and on weekends from 14:00 to 19:00. Dedicated simulation sessions require prior registration and take place on Thursdays and Fridays at 18:00, 19:00, and 20:00, as well as Saturdays and Sundays at 16:00 and 17:30.
Attendance is free for all adults aged 18 and older. The venue is designed to be fully inclusive, providing specific accommodations for wheelchair users, visitors with hearing or visual impairments, and those with cognitive disabilities, including the use of sign language.
