Performance: AYA+TOLI – topology of clumsiness
AYA+TOLI exposes a sensitive geography of the thread, linked to the experience of speaking (out).
MAIF Social Club (Paris 3rd)
About
A literary and semantic symbol, embodying coherence and reason, the thread is here set in motion, tangled, unrolled, rolled up, paraded, overwhelmed and defied of its Western stylistic identity and metaphorical stability.
A tangible element that surrounds us in our daily lives, the thread dresses us, amuses us, separates us, binds us, cuts us, puts us in tension, manipulates us, disturbs us. Where does this loose thread come from? What is itching us? What will it become?
Through an autobiographical narrative combining dance, installation, and electronic music, this playful solo highlights the clumsy relationship with otherness.
Our take on this event
Forget straight lines; this performance turns tangles of thread into a powerful metaphor for the awkward beauty of human connection. Through a blend of electronic soundscapes and movement, expect a deeply personal show that turns your perception of boundaries upside down.
The MAIF Social Club presents AYA+TOLI – topologie de la maladresse, a solo performance running from January 28 to January 30, 2027. Combining dance, installation art, and electronic music, the show offers an autobiographical look at the awkward ways we relate to others and the material world. By deconstructing the symbolic and physical properties of thread, the artist challenges stability and coherence in a playful, thought-provoking manner. This event is free to attend, providing an accessible cultural experience in the heart of the 3rd arrondissement for anyone interested in experimental storytelling and contemporary movement.
From Thursday, January 28, to Saturday, January 30, 2027, the MAIF Social Club hosts a unique solo production titled AYA+TOLI – topologie de la maladresse. This performance serves as an autobiographical narrative, using the thread as both a physical object and a conceptual tool. By twisting, tangling, and defying the traditional stylistic identity of thread, the artist examines how our daily environment influences our movements and our perception of boundaries.
The performance integrates dance, electronic soundscapes, and an artistic installation to create a tactile experience. It addresses the friction of daily life—the ways in which we are connected, separated, or manipulated by the mundane objects surrounding us. Through this solo, the artist highlights the clumsiness inherent in our encounters with the "other," moving beyond standard metaphorical stability to reveal something raw and honest. Attendance is entirely free, allowing visitors to engage with this artistic exploration of human connection within the 3rd arrondissement.
