Show: Critters
Critters is a participatory form aimed at children from 4 years old and their companions. In a shared play space, an artist tells his story. With small, ordinary things, he invites you to invent your own critters in an experience inspired by Art Brut.

About
Sasha, an artist, tells you his story: when he was a child, he would pick up and collect everything that pleased him for its shape, color, or texture, without worrying about the utility of the object he was collecting. His bedroom had become a true museum of "thingamajigs and doodads."
In front of you, Sasha presents his objects and tells why he loved them. He thus encourages children to discover the beauty of a small spoon, a paperclip, or a dust bunny. With the objects, he then creates a first critter: an atypical creature, a monstrous or friendly chimera. He then invites everyone to create their own critter from the objects made available. Accompanied by the performer, the children handle, assemble, and transform the objects. Little by little, the space fills up with these singular forms.
Our take on this event
Bring your collection of random knick-knacks to life and build your own unique creatures during this immersive storytelling session. Sasha turns ordinary everyday items into wild, whimsical monsters that spark endless imagination. This is the perfect creative getaway for little makers to transform scrap into art.
From October 28 to October 31, 2026, the MAIF Social Club in the 3rd arrondissement hosts Bestioles, an interactive show designed for children aged 4 and up. Artist Sasha shares his childhood passion for collecting everyday objects, turning mundane items like paperclips and spoons into unique, fantastical creatures. Following a storytelling session, young visitors are invited to assemble their own sculptures using a variety of materials. This creative experience highlights the beauty found in ordinary things and encourages hands-on artistic exploration. The event is completely free of charge, providing an engaging and imaginative outing for families in the heart of Paris.
This artistic performance invites you into the world of Sasha, who spent his childhood curating a museum of curious items, from stray dust to discarded cutlery. During the session, he introduces his collection, explaining the aesthetic appeal of these everyday treasures and inspiring children to find beauty in the unconventional.
The experience then shifts to an active workshop where the audience becomes the creator. Guided by the performer, children experiment with textures and shapes, assembling the provided materials to build their own unique creatures. Whether they construct charming monsters or strange chimeras, each participant contributes to filling the room with imaginative forms. The event takes place at the MAIF Social Club and is open to the public from Wednesday, October 28, to Saturday, October 31, 2026. Participation is free, making it a perfect activity for young creators to explore their artistic potential.
