About

The Théâtre de la Concorde presents the musical reading 'Marcher dans tes pas' by Léonor de Récondo on October 20 and 21, 2026. Through her writing and violin, the author explores the forced exile of her grandmother from Irun in 1936, delving into themes of identity, lineage, and memory. Combining prose, poetry, and live music, this performance offers a poignant reflection on how personal history shapes the present. Attendees can experience this unique storytelling session between 20:00 and 21:45. Tickets are available for booking at a price ranging from 8 to 10€.

In this musical reading, Léonor de Récondo lends her voice and her violin to the story of Enriqueta, her grandmother, who was forced to flee the family home in Irun on August 18, 1936, threatened by the Francoists. In a few minutes, everything changed: childhood, the house, the everyday actions, a rice pudding left forever on the kitchen table. Almost ninety years later, this suspended image becomes the starting point for a sensitive investigation into exile, filiation, and identity.

Between prose and poetry, music and silence, the narrative weaves together childhood memories, fragmentary archives, and novelistic imagination. The question of Spanish nationality, once again made accessible to the descendants of republican exiles, runs through the text like an intimate interrogation: what does it mean to claim a lost identity? The music of the violin accompanies this slow walk toward the ghosts, giving flesh to the absent and depth to ordinary gestures.

Our take on this event

Léonor de Récondo invites the audience to 'Marcher dans tes pas', a musical reading based on her 2025 book published by Éditions L’Iconoclaste. Held at the Théâtre de la Concorde in the 8th arrondissement, the performance reconstructs the life of the author's grandmother, Enriqueta, who was forced to abandon her family home in Irun during the Spanish Civil War in August 1936. The narrative bridges the gap between historical archives and the intimate search for a lost identity.

The event takes place on October 20 and 21, 2026, from 20:00 to 21:45. Throughout the session, the author weaves together memories and imaginative storytelling, supported by the evocative sound of the violin to bring the past to life. The performance also addresses the complex question of Spanish nationality for the descendants of republican exiles.

Admission is available upon reservation, with ticket prices between 8 and 10€.
