The Historical and Archaeological Society of the 8th and 17th arrondissements invites you to a lecture dedicated to the relationship between Honoré de Balzac and Ève Hanska, a Polish-born countess who was his muse, confidante, and, after many years of correspondence, his wife.

Presented by Jacques Marec, honorary president of the Friends of the Château de Maisons-Laffitte, this lecture will explore this extraordinary love story, fueled by hundreds of letters and marked by the upheavals of 19th-century Europe. It will also shed light on the influence of this relationship on Balzac's life and work.
