About
The first Swedish personality and first female laureate of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1909, and the first woman elected to the Swedish Academy in 1914, Selma Lagerlöf, before these major distinctions, saw her works translated in France (Jerusalem, Gösta Berling's Saga), notably thanks to André Bellessort and Thekla Hammar, who helped make her style, both "Homeric" and "realistic," known.
Maria Hansson, Doctor of Scandinavian Literature and author of Selma Lagerlöf: une célèbre inconnue (Selma Lagerlöf: A Famous Stranger), who studies the reception of her work in France, and Anny Romand, actress and publisher, will retrace Lagerlöf's path to becoming a writer and her international recognition.
