About

Join the Mémorial de la Shoah on October 15, 2026, for a guided tour of the exhibition Images of the Green Ticket Roundup. This event highlights 98 recently unearthed photographs documenting the first mass arrest of Jews in France on May 14, 1941. Scheduled from 19:30 to 21:00, the session offers insight into the work of photographer Harry Croner and the historical context of these long-censored images. The venue is fully accessible to wheelchair users, and while admission is free, booking is required to attend this insightful historical exploration.

Shoah Memorial, September 2020. Two collectors arrive at the photo library department with five contact sheets mounted on large cardboard sheets. Among these photographs, only seven are already known to specialists on the subject and have been published. They are marked with a cross on the original sheets. The others are unpublished. This is the complete reportage. An exceptional set of 98 images comes back to light, 80 years after the events. This reportage documents the first massive arrest of Jews in France, the roundup of May 14, 1941, known as the 'green ticket', ordered by the Occupier and organized by the French authorities.

Today, an exhibition and a book invite the public to participate in the investigation that allowed identifying the photographer, Harry Croner, and understanding his 'gaze' on these tragic events, a gaze upon which German censorship fell, condemning these historical photographs to an oblivion of more than 80 years.
