About

Performed by the Ballet of the Tunis Opera, this production explores themes of desire and freedom through intense physical movement. By moving away from traditional narrative codes, the show offers a sensory and powerful vision of this classic myth. Performances run from February 12 to February 20, 2027, with ticket prices ranging from 45 to 55 euros. This artistic project highlights a bold dialogue between different cultures, right in the heart of the 13th arrondissement.

With Carmen, Abou Lagraa offers a contemporary choreographic reinterpretation of Georges Bizet's iconic work, performed by the dancers of the Ballet of the Tunis Opera. At the crossroads of dance and opera, this creation revisits the myth of Carmen by highlighting the power of the body and dramatic intensity.

Using a choreographic language that is both organic and incisive, Abou Lagraa explores the fundamental tensions of the work: desire, freedom, domination... while breaking free from traditional narrative codes to prioritize a sensory and physical approach. The stage becomes a space of confrontation where the performers embody, with great intensity, the impulses and contradictions of the characters.

A major figure in the contemporary choreographic scene, Abou Lagraa has for several years developed demanding work, nourished by the dialogue between cultures and aesthetics.

His collaboration with the Tunis Opera is part of a dynamic of transmission and openness, bringing together performers from different backgrounds around an ambitious artistic project.

An accessible and powerful work, capable of reaching a wide audience while offering a renewed reading of a great classic of the repertoire.

With a certain sensuality, very present throughout Bizet's work, Abou Lagraa managed to avoid the trap of exoticism, turning it into a weapon and proving that "we are all Carmens!" La Terrasse
