About

Experience the depth of Música Popular Brasileira with Sara Miette at the 38Riv Jazz Club on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Joined by pianist Edouard Ravelomantsoa, the vocalist revisits this iconic genre that emerged from bossa nova to become a powerful, politically conscious voice in Brazil. This intimate event takes place in the heart of the Marais district and requires prior booking to attend. You can choose between two performance slots, either 15:00 to 16:00 or 17:00 to 18:00, for a deeply immersive musical afternoon.

Following the bossa nova comes Música Popular Brasileira (or MPB), carried by a new generation of musicians who have since made their mark in the pantheon of Brazilian music. Less carefree than bossa nova, MPB gradually became a vehicle for more political messages in the context of a military dictatorship.

Line-up: Sara Miette: vocals; Edouard Ravelomantsoa: piano

Our take on this event

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, the 38Riv Jazz Club, located at 38 rue de Rivoli in Paris's 4th arrondissement, presents a special tribute to the MPB genre. Unlike the carefree melodies of bossa nova, MPB carries the weight of history and political resistance from the era of the Brazilian military dictatorship. Vocalist Sara Miette and pianist Edouard Ravelomantsoa collaborate to bring these significant compositions to life.

The concert is divided into two separate one-hour sessions: the first from 15:00 to 16:00, and the second from 17:00 to 18:00. The venue, a renowned spot for jazz and improvisation, provides an exceptionally intimate setting that perfectly complements the nuanced performance of the duo.

Tickets are available at different price points depending on whether you book in advance or purchase at the door. Online tickets are priced between 16€ and 19€, while tickets purchased on-site range from 19€ to 22€. Given the limited seating capacity of this underground club, we advise securing your tickets online in advance.
