Théâtre Public de Montreuil
About
From November 26 to December 12, 2026, the Théâtre Public de Montreuil presents La Parabole du Seum, a new performance piece by director and writer Rébecca Chaillon. Through a sharp and humorous lens, the show examines the intersection of climate disasters and Western imperialism, questioning where our hopes lie in a fractured world. Designed for audiences aged 15 and over, this production is fully accessible to wheelchair users as well as blind, visually impaired, deaf, and hard-of-hearing patrons. Come discover this fierce, imaginative performance that transforms personal narratives into powerful acts of collective resistance.
An associate artist at the TPM where she has already presented several of her works, author, performer, and director Rébecca Chaillon returns with her performative theater where bodies that defy dictates become narratives and forces of transformation.
In The Parable of the Seum, the sky is both the place from which catastrophes fall - hurricanes, floods, so-called "natural" disasters - which always reveal the same fault lines, and the new territories of Western imperialism. But if the sky is saturated and fragmented, what space remains to project our beliefs and our hopes? Neither a program nor a consolation, the play composes a funny and ferocious parable to let the soul breathe, in which imagination and humor become acts of resistance.
Our take on this event
Rébecca Chaillon, an artist associated with the Théâtre Public de Montreuil, brings her latest work, La Parabole du Seum, to the stage. Running from November 26 through December 12, 2026, the performance uses the sky as a metaphor—a place where both climate catastrophes and imperialist ambitions converge. Rather than offering easy answers, the play serves as a satirical and intense exploration of how humor and imagination can function as effective tools for defiance against current societal structures.
Performances take place Monday through Friday at 20:00 and on Saturdays at 18:00. Tickets are priced between 9 and 27 euros, and the production is suitable for attendees 15 years of age and older.
Inclusivity is a priority for this run: the venue provides full access for wheelchair users. Furthermore, the performance is adapted to accommodate blind and visually impaired guests, as well as those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
