The Library of Detective Literature (BiLiPo) invites you to a unique exhibition of its cinema prints in partnership with the François Truffaut media library, on the occasion of the international colloquium "The printed culture of cinema. Film serials, film-novels, photo-novels and other transmedia hybridizations (20th and 21st centuries)".

Hybridizations between the written word and the screen have given rise to a wide variety of media productions. Since the 1910s, very diverse printed materials have been developed at the crossroads of cultural objects and advertising media: film posters, theater programs, periodical supplements, specialized press…

Transmedia characters, stories, and universes transcend their original medium. For example, Fantômas, originally a novel, has been adapted into films, photo-novels, periodicals, series, comics…

    Creative, makeshift, protesting: at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, a parallel press emerged in France, on the fringes of the so-called "bourgeois" information press. Born in the wake of May 68 and nourished by Anglo-Saxon influences – from the Californian Free Press to the British underground – this "new press" accompanied an entire generation in its political, cultural, and social awakening. This is the effervescence showcased in this wall exhibition, designed using heritage collections.
