About

On Sunday, January 17, 2027, the Théâtre du Châtelet hosts a unique culinary and musical performance. Designed for families and food enthusiasts, this interactive concert reimagines opera classics using kitchen utensils as instruments. From 11:00 to 16:45, audience members can join in the fun as household items like ladles and pots become part of a global, techno, or rap-infused soundtrack. The event is accessible to blind or visually impaired guests and is suitable for children aged 4 and up. Make sure to book your tickets in advance to secure your spot at this creative, flavor-filled musical experience.

To eat and to love, to sing and to digest: these are, in truth, the four acts of this comic opera known as life, which vanishes like the foam of a bottle of champagne. Whoever lets it escape without having enjoyed it is a madman.

Gioachino Rossini,

Already in the 19th century, the ties between cuisine and opera were very close... And in this "lyrico-spiced concert for young and old gourmets" – as Violaine Fournier and Cyril Louge, the chefs behind this delectable show, put it – every kitchen utensil becomes an instrument. While the kitchen staff busies themselves under the gilding of the Grand Foyer, the audience will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty by laughing, singing, and clapping, because the ingredients of this participatory recipe are also in the room!

An opportunity to discover or rediscover the great classics of opera, but in a "modern cuisine" style rather than "buttered potatoes": indeed, with a frying-pan bass, a ladle-flute, an oven that plays the harp, a balafon made of syrup bottles, and an oud crafted from a saucepan, the melodies will also ring out in rap, techno, or world music styles. Salivating? Your eardrums and eyes are in for a treat.
