About

Chaillot - Théâtre national de la Danse presents Ground Extended STUCK/Bounce from February 4 to February 6, 2027, a vibrant showcase of hip-hop freestyle and whacking. Under the artistic direction of Lumi Sow, the Sons of Wind collective delivers an energetic performance rooted in rhythm and camaraderie. They are joined by Mounia Nassangar, who highlights the technical precision and expressive power of whacking. Suitable for ages 10 and up, the show runs for 2 hours including an intermission. Tickets range from 9 to 50 euros, offering a unique opportunity to experience the evolution of urban dance styles in a professional setting.

They unleash the energy of freestyle hip-hop on stage. In Bounce, the Sons of Wind are overcome by the groove, that repetitive movement intimately linked to music that makes bodies sway in rhythm. Guided by Lumi Sow, head of the interdisciplinary group founded in 2013, ten performers radiate cohesion and the joy of dancing in a fiery atmosphere. Their eruptive dance also highlights the founding values of the hip-hop movement: respect, sharing, and self-transcendence. Then, whacking star Mounia Nassangar unveils the hypnotic arm movements characteristic of this style, born in the Black and Latino LGBT community in Los Angeles in the 1970s. In a cinematic atmosphere where disco and funk rhythms resonate, five dancers display the striking expressiveness of their dance, the intensity of which recalls the urgency in which whacking emerged. Proof that the legacy of hip-hop dances is very much alive.
