Everything Must Go - Stéphanie Aflalo

Prepare for a theater piece that turns metaphysical heavy lifting into a hilarious, soulful dialogue between a daughter and her father’s memory. Mixing piano melodies with sharp wit, the stage becomes a space where grieving feels like a rhythmic rehearsal rather than a final act. It is the perfect plan if you want to rethink life’s biggest questions while being thoroughly entertained.

About

Stéphanie Aflalo brings her latest production, Tout doit disparaître, to the Théâtre de la Bastille. Blending philosophy with performance art, she explores themes of loss and the passage of time through the lens of Jacques Derrida’s work. This intimate yet metaphysical piece features a dialogue between the artist and a video projection of her father, interwoven with song, dance, and live piano. Designed for adult audiences, the show is restricted to spectators aged 18 and over. This artistic exploration of grief and wisdom offers a unique theatrical experience in the 11th arrondissement for those interested in contemporary performance.

With her "Philosophical Recreations", Stéphanie Aflalo offers humorous confrontations between theater and philosophy. This time, she draws inspiration from the thought of philosopher Jacques Derrida to better make it derail. "Each time unique, the end of the world", he wrote to describe the intimate explosion that the death of a loved one causes in us.
Starting from these reflections, Stéphanie Aflalo engages in a dialogue that is both intimate and metaphysical with the video image of her father, from whom she inherited a taste for farce and excess.
Interweaving singing, dancing, and piano music, Everything Must Go becomes an exchange that refuses to end, a form of training for mourning as one rehearses a play, since philosophizing, as the saying goes, is learning how to die. Cultivating a very singular sense of wisdom, Stéphanie Aflalo delivers a burlesque meditation on time.
