Our take on this event

Transform fabric scraps into enchanting soft books perfect for little hands to discover. With your sewing skills as a guide, come craft unique tactile treasures that you can either keep or donate to grow the local library collection.

The James Baldwin library hosts creative workshops for crafting fabric books on Saturdays, November 7 and December 5, 2026. Designed for those with basic sewing skills, this activity allows you to repurpose fabric scraps into tactile reading materials for toddlers. Under the guidance of library staff, you will create unique pieces to keep or donate to the library's collection. The session is free of charge and fully accessible to all, with accommodations for wheelchair users, people with sensory impairments, and those who use sign language.

Join us at the James Baldwin library in the 19th arrondissement for hands-on sewing sessions held on 07/11/2026 and 05/12/2026, from 10:00 to 13:00. These workshops focus on making custom fabric books using recycled materials, specifically crafted for young children.

Participants must have previous sewing experience to join the project. Once finished, you have the option to take your book home or donate it to help expand the library's textile book collection.

The venue is committed to inclusivity, offering full accessibility for wheelchair users. The event is also adapted for individuals who are blind or partially sighted, as well as those who are deaf or hard of hearing, with sign language interpretation provided. Support is also available for those with cognitive disabilities. Admission is free and open to everyone without the need for prior registration.
