Scratch Workshop: Video Game

A workshop to learn about programming (coding) while having fun with the "Scratch" software.

Médiathèque Hélène Berr (Paris 12th)

About

On the occasion of the youth highlight Eat or be eaten, we are programming a video game inspired by the famous Pac-Man!

Scratch is software developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It allows children to create their own computer programs without worrying about the specific syntax of any particular language.

Our take on this event

Forget boring lessons and start building your own retro arcade game from scratch. This interactive session makes learning to code feel like pure play, giving you all the tools to bring your digital creature to life.

The Hélène Berr library invites children aged 8 and over to explore digital creation during this coding workshop. On Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 14:00 to 17:00, participants learn how to design their own video game inspired by the classic Pac-Man. Using the Scratch software developed by MIT, young creators build computer programs without the need for complex language syntax. This fun event is part of the 'Manger ou être mangé' youth series. Attendance is completely free, and the venue is fully accessible to wheelchair users as well as visitors with cognitive disabilities.

The activity utilizes Scratch, an educational tool developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This interface allows children to build intuitive computer programs while bypassing the complex syntax constraints usually required for traditional coding. It provides an ideal opportunity for young learners to discover computer logic in a hands-on environment.

Participation in this event is free of charge. To ensure inclusion for all, the Hélène Berr library in the 12th arrondissement is wheelchair accessible and features facilities adapted for individuals with cognitive disabilities.
