Meeting with Erwann Gauthier
Gabriel Chalick, trumpet · Fabrizio Dori, piano
Foyer, Fondation des États-Unis
As part of Jazz à la Cité · Free admission upon registration

Miles Davis was born one hundred years ago. Paris played an important role in his life: he performed there in 1949 and recorded the music for Elevator to the Gallows there in 1957. For this centenary, the poet and graphic designer Erwann Gauthier, creator of the Victoires de la Musique trophy and the exhibition The Color of Jazz, has dedicated a collection to him published by L'Harmattan (L'Écarlate collection), Miles Davis, the Night Is Also a Sun.
At the FEU, his poems will respond live to the trumpet of Gabriel Chalick, an American trumpeter trained at Princeton and an artist in residence at the FEU, and the piano of Fabrizio Dori. The evening will continue with a Q&A with the audience and a book signing session. The book will be available for purchase on-site and online.

The first evening of the FEU jazz week, followed by a masterclass on October 15 and a concert by Jay Loenhart and Tomoko Ohno on October 16.
