About
On Monday, December 7, 2026, the 14th arrondissement town hall hosts a special evening dedicated to the historian and resistance fighter Marc Bloch. Following his recent induction into the Panthéon, this event examines the life and intellectual legacy of a man who played a crucial role in history. Attendees can expect a thoughtful program featuring academics, writers, and musical contributions. The event is free and open to the public, subject to available seating capacity in the Salle des mariages. It offers a unique opportunity to engage with historical memory and the significance of personal commitment in dark times.
On June 16, 1944, at nightfall, 30 prisoners were taken from their cells at Montluc prison, handcuffed, and loaded into a covered van. After an hour on the road, they were taken out in groups of four into a field and immediately shot in the back. On June 23, 2026, one of them, the historian Marc Bloch, will be inducted into the Panthéon.
Like Jean Moulin, he enters "with the People born in the shadows and disappeared with them (Malraux)".
With the participation of:
NICOLAS OFFENSTADT, historian, professor of history at the Sorbonne,
JEAN-LOUIS ROBERT, historian, professor emeritus,
PALOMA SAUSSET, singer,
CAROLE TRÉBOR, author, Marc Bloch, Non au déni de l’histoire, Actes sud Jeunesse, 2026.
