Cocanha
Polyphonic dance songs/Occitan pop
Toulouse natives Caroline Dufau and Lila Fraysse master the fascinating string drum with strength and subtlety, a hybrid instrument, half-percussion, half-zither, whose resonances echo deep within the senses. Cocanha also sings in polyphony and in the Occitan language, featuring committed texts, whether new or old, corrected to remove any potential sexist overtones. Their duo makes us dream, vibrate, reflect, and dance.
Aàgut
Songs, percussion & glitter
Album release
From being an innovation in the late 1990s, polyphonic songs in the Occitan language have become a musical genre in their own right. Aàgut extends the geographical reach of its songs from Béarn to Galicia. This exciting female trio of singer-percussionists is joined by an experienced percussionist and a few electroacoustic effects. Aàgut takes us on a tour of the Pyrenees, jumping from peak to peak.
