Program
This evening invites the audience on a musical journey through eras and styles. From romantic music to jazz, from 60s and 70s pop to disco, and on to rock and heavy metal, the program brings together very different musical worlds.
The evening will begin with romantic music, featuring Camille Théveneau on violin and Nicolas Deshoulières on piano, who will perform works including Pablo de Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen and Ferenc Vecsey’s Valse triste.
The audience will then discover the world of jazz with the Conservatory Jazz Workshop, directed by Diego Imbert, featuring works by Steve Swallow, Antônio Carlos Jobim, Paul Chambers, and Sam Rivers.
Next, it’s time for the great classics of pop, rock, country, and folk from the 60s and 70s. The Conservatory Contemporary Music Vocal Ensemble, directed by Elizabeth Paavel, will perform classics such as California Dreamin’, Helplessly Hoping, Life on Mars, and Jolene.
The atmosphere will then turn decidedly disco with the Paris City Employees’ Concert Band, directed by Jane Latron. On the program: ABBA, Earth, Wind & Fire, and a disco medley to get the room vibrating.
The evening will continue with rockier sounds featuring the rock, pop, and blues band Mélodix, who will perform Dire Straits’ Romeo and Juliet and Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters.
Finally, the Conservatory Contemporary Music Vocal Ensemble will close this musical journey with Seasons of Love from Rent. A unifying finale for an evening centered on diversity, transmission, and the joy of sharing music.
