About
Meet author Nicolas Martin at the Rainer Maria Rilke Library on Friday, October 23, 2026, for a deep dive into his latest novel, Je ne suis pas venu apporter la paix. This free event, open to attendees aged 16 and over, offers a unique opportunity to discuss the complexities of family ties and the weight of patriarchal structures with the former host of France Culture's La Méthode scientifique. Located in the 5th arrondissement, the venue is fully accessible to wheelchair users and provides dedicated support for individuals with hearing, visual, or cognitive impairments, ensuring an inclusive experience for everyone.
In a Pyrenean farm cut off from the world, a blended family reunites around a dying patriarch, a cold matriarch, and their unsettling servant. Everyone returns with their secrets, their ghosts. Trapped by a torrential storm, they watch their masks crack under the weight of the unspoken. Violence smolders, ready to explode.
Between ancient tragedy and horrific chamber drama, Je ne suis pas venu apporter la paix combines the tension of a psychological thriller with the darkness of an implacable family drama.
After the success of Fragile/s (Au diable vauvert), Nicolas Martin signs a second novel that questions the brutality of blood ties and the persistent grip of patriarchy.
Nicolas Martin is a journalist, screenwriter, and director. From 2016 to 2022, he hosted the show La Méthode scientifique on France Culture. He is currently working on his first feature film.
