Repertoire specific to the Duo Sawt Al-Chark, composed by Issam and sung by Samar to Arabic poetry.

Traditional songs of Aleppo, a repertoire known throughout the world through the Syrian legend Sabah Fakhri, and finally, sacred Aramaic chants.

Oud improvisation and other musical pieces composed by Issam.

Samar Charifi began her career at a very young age, as from her early childhood, her voice gave her the ability to sing the most difficult Arabic melodies (such as songs by Umm Kulthum). She continued her studies in opera singing at the National Conservatory of Damascus in SYRIA until her arrival in France in 1998, where she continued her opera studies at the Strasbourg Regional Conservatory.

Since 1989, she has worked with Issam Charifi, who had her study classical Arabic music and singing after discovering her extraordinary voice.

She won the first prize at the Syrian Song Festival with Issam Charifi in 1994 and 1996.

Issam Charifi began music in childhood with the study of Western classical violin.

At the age of 16, he began playing the oriental lute (oud), with which he became an accomplished artist.

In 1989, he met Samar Boulboul, with whom he created the orchestra (The Voice of the Orient) in Syria.

The repertoire of this ensemble consists of either classical Arabic singing, like that of Umm Kulthum, or compositions by Issam Charifi, who continues in the field of classical Arabic music.

This group has won several competitions and participated in numerous Syrian festivals.

The duo continued its activities in FRANCE under the name Duo Sawt Al-Chark (Duo of the Voice of the Orient).

The duo has continued to perform concerts in France and Europe, as well as at the Damascus Opera, highlighted by a beautiful tour with the director Tony GATLIF and the show "VERTIGES".

Basha Aldghlawi is a percussionist based in France since 2017.

He collaborated for three years with Jordi Savall within the Orfeus project.

Today, he continues his musical journey by playing with several oriental music ensembles. He shares a deep passion for traditions and cultural exchanges.
