About
Often reduced to the image of the hospital that gave it its name, the Salpêtrière district holds many surprises. Around the Saint-Marcel church, the traces of an old suburb are revealed.
During this walk, you will discover an old dairy, picturesque houses with sometimes singular silhouettes, an early work by Rodin, the Institute of Human Paleontology, the Droit Humain temple, old garages, and several school buildings of interest. These are all witnesses to a rich and little-known history that gives this district of the 13th arrondissement of Paris a unique character.
This guided tour is offered by the Comité d'histoire de la Ville de Paris.
